“Fab Femme Collab: Three Artists’ Books by Johanna Drucker and Susan Bee” was a celebration of Susan Bee and Johanna Drucker’s history as collaborators, as well as their most recent publications, Off-World Fairy Tales (Litmus Press, 2020). The event took place at the Printer Matter Virtual Art Book Fair (PMVABF) on February 27, 2021, 3pm EST / 12pm PST. “Fab Femme Collab” was co-hosted by the Artbook Store at MoMA PS1 in New York and the Artbook Store at Hauser & Wirth in Los Angeles. Litmus Managing Editor Rachael Guynn Wilson moderated. Bee and Drucker created commemorative bookplates for the event.

Event description: In this conversation between long-time collaborators Susan Bee and Johanna Drucker, artist and author discuss the role of hybridity, pastiche and, crucially, the imagination in feminist poetics, politics, and art. Bee and Drucker reflect on their collaborative authorship of three books: A Girl’s Life (Granary Books, 2002), Fabulous Feminae (Litmus Press, 2015), and most recently, Off-World Fairy Tales (Litmus Press, 2020). Other topics of discussion include speculative genres in writing and the visual arts, procedural play and formal play in collaboration, and what makes a collaboration successful.
