Melanie Rands

 

Melanie Rands is of Hawai?ian, Fijian, Scottish descent, and is a curator, visual artist and poet based in Auckland. Committed to environmental and social change, Rands is the co-founder of ecostore, a business that makes and sells ecological products in Oceania and Asia. She co-founded an intentional community and organic farm in Matapouri Bay in Te Tai Tokelau in 1985, and is also a Greenpeace NZ board member and a member of the inaugural Pacific Advisory Group at the Auckland War Memorial Museum. Her poems have been published in Brief #42, 2011 and Scope: Contemporary Research Topics, and she is currently undertaking postgraduate studies in English at the University of Auckland.
